HISTORY OF GODAVARI


The Godavari River is one of the major rivers in India, often referred to as the 'South Ganga.' It spans a length of 1,450 kilometers (900 miles). The source of the Godavari River is located near Trimbakeshwar, in the state of Maharashtra. From its source to its confluence, the Godavari River is renowned for being circumambulated by pilgrims. The flow of water in the Godavari varies seasonally, with approximately 80% of the water flowing from July to October. The width of the river ranges from 200 meters in some places (near the Eastern Ghats) to 6.5 kilometers in others (before it meets the sea).
